Today Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was forced to make a change to his Cabinet for the third time in nine weeks. This shuffle was triggered by the unexpected resignation of Jane Philpott (Markham-Stouffville) from Cabinet on March 4. Today’s change sees Joyce Murray enter Cabinet to become President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Digital Government.
Joyce Murray (Vancouver Quadra), described as a businesswoman, and environmental advocate, has served as the Parliamentary Assistant to the President of the Treasury Board since December 2015. She was a contender for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada in 2013 against Trudeau. First elected in a by-election in 2008 in the riding of Vancouver Quadra, Murray previously served as a Provincial Cabinet Minister in the Government of Premier Gordon Campbell in British Columbia.
Tomorrow Finance Minister, Bill Morneau (Toronto Centre), will present the Liberal Government’s fourth budget. TSA will provide a full and in-depth analysis.
